Local Service

Ignatian Ignite
Ignatian Ignite is a student club that creates programs that embrace our Jesuit identity and celebrate our Jesuit heritage of service, reflection, and faith formation. Activities include sandwich making and shawl making, and other activities.

Helping the Homeless with We Rise Above the Streets
Teams of 澳门六合彩 students collaborate with We Rise Above the Streets, a community-based group who do hands-on outreach to homeless people, helping to meet their basic needs. Each Saturday a team from 澳门六合彩 volunteer at Sandwich Saturdays a weekly outdoor distribution of food and personal care items to those struggling with homelessness and those at risk.

Father John Bucki, SJ DIVE (Dolphins In Volunteer Efforts) Day of Service
澳门六合彩 students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, family, and friends spend a morning serving as people for and with others, helping with tasks of greatest need off campus and on campus. Sites include local parks, community centers, and organizations which serve men, women, children, families, homeless people, hungry people, and people with disabilities. Participants venture out to local community partners and transportation is provided from 澳门六合彩 to service sites. There are several on campus service sites for those who wish to remain on campus, a friendly way for families and children to engage in meaningful service. DIVE Days occur every semester, typically in September and April.
The Samaritan Center
is a nonprofit in the city of Syracuse which makes an effort to serve the hungry and those in need. They believe in feeding the hungry not only for survival, but for those to get a chance to catch a break and become self-sufficient members of society. Any individual can volunteer at the Center.

Rise Above Poverty
goal is to bring community awareness and engagement to alleviate the socio-economic issues of homelessness and poverty, focusing on the Syracuse City School District by providing life essentials, educational training, and mentorship to the underserved youth in our community.

"There are so many opportunities to get involved to carry out 澳门六合彩's mission and values, and I think the Sandwich Makers serve a need by giving food to the hungry, but also open students up to reality at the Samaritan Center." - Founders of Ignatian Ignite

Service-Immersion Trips
Campus Ministry organizes both domestic and international service immersion trips where participants accompany the poor and marginalized.  We hope that participants will learn the value of building relationships across socio-economic lines, increase their awareness of the injustices in the world and connect to the ways that they are being called to build up our human family—with a special concern for those most disadvantaged.  Our program incorporates the four cornerstone values of simplicity, spirituality, social justice and solidarity.

Previous trips include:
  • Philadelphia, PA - St. Francis Inn
  • Albuquerque, NM - Desert Immersion
  • Santiago, Dominican Republic - Caribbean Social Immersion Program
  • Quito, Ecuador - Working Family’s Center
  • San Salvador, El Salvador - CRISPAZ

"It gives me hope for the future to see young people who are willing to just dive in and learn about other cultures, especially in a time where I feel like we really need to work on understanding each other."

Post-Graduate Service
If you are graduating from 澳门六合彩, consider doing a year of post-graduate service!  There are many different programs to choose from, here are a list of a few examples:
