For 450 years, theatre has been a fundamental component of Jesuit education. Educating the “whole artist” is the driving force for our program where students are trained in acting, design, and technical skills. We produce three faculty directed shows a year in addition to two (and frequently more!) student directed projects. Our students are empowered and encouraged to take the reins of many academic and professional projects throughout the year. Any student involved in this program experiences the rich, collaborative and joyous nature of theatre art. We hope you will join us.

Our majors have the opportunity to double major in other disciplines such as English literature, peace and global studies, creative writing, political science and many others. Community outreach is emphasized through an Applied Theatre class, allowing our students to interact with, inspire and educate our neighbors. Students are consistently encouraged to hone their craft beyond the Heights, with opportunities to study, train, perform and travel abroad with programs in Italy, Ireland, and more.
Since °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê's founding in 1946, students from all majors have been welcomed to participate in a myriad of theatrical productions ranging from comedies, dramas and musicals to mysteries, tragedies and beyond. Each year, we produce three main stage, faculty-run productions in the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts (home to a dance studio, a carpenter’s shop, classrooms and music practice rooms) and three, student-driven productions in our genuine black box theatre.
